Abel Communications is thrilled to take home the Public Relations Society of America Maryland Chapter’s most coveted award, PR Team of the Year, along with three additional industry awards.
The PR Team of the Year award recognizes a high-performing team that effectively supports its clients’ communications objectives, while demonstrating consistent innovation and impactful results. The Abel team was noted for its relentless commitment to both client success and employee engagement.
“During an extremely unusual and intense year, this is a phenomenal award for a dedicated and talented team,” said Greg Abel, Abel Communications Founder and CEO. “We are, of course, also incredibly grateful to our amazing clients and partners who make our work possible.”
In addition to PR Team of the Year, Abel won two best in Maryland awards and one award of excellence for its client work in 2019:
Best in Maryland for Community Relations: HASA Partners with BOPA as “Access and Inclusion Partner”
Abel developed a program to establish HASA as BOPA’s “Access and Inclusion Partner,” creating programming for BOPA’s events to make its festivals more inclusive and accessible. HASA was able to reach more than 700,000 attendees through its partnership, 5,000 individuals through event interpreting services and more than 1,000 through its silent disco dance parties.
Best in Maryland for Creative Tactics – For-Profit: Conrad Siegel’s “Investment Committee Meeting in a Box”
Abel Communications developed a creative lead generation campaign to differentiate Conrad Siegel’s business while targeting decision makers at key companies. Inspired by the growing popularity of subscription boxes, the Abel team devised the “Investment Committee Meeting in a Box” concept, producing 100 boxes brimming with branded swag, custom print collateral and educational resources.
Award of Excellence for Media Relations, Association/Nonprofit/Government: NAA’s Rent Control & Housing Affordability Media Relations Campaign
Abel executed a strategic media relations campaign to establish NAA as an industry-leading voice and enthusiastic advocate for its members, securing coverage of NAA’s affordability research and rent control expertise with 47 placements across nearly 30 outlets. Combined, these outlets have an average monthly viewership of more than 400 million.
“I couldn’t be more proud of this rockstar team. Each and every one of us takes immense pride in our work and our ability to deliver impactful results for our clients. We are honored to be recognized by our peers as the best team in Maryland,” added Abel President Gina Richmond.
For the past four years, Abel Communications has been named a finalist in The Baltimore Business Journal’s Best Places to Work competition, an award that recognized the firm’s commitment to a feedback-rich culture, continuing education and big-company benefits at a small agency.
